CAYCE (EDGAR)

Edgar Cayce is, in my opinion, the most underrated and overlooked phenomenon in 20th Century spiritual, occult, and metaphysical circles. I feel like Edgar Cayce is the Rodney Dangerfield of the spiritual community. Cayce and his life story rank at or near the top of the most well-documented and extraordinary human phenomena to occur in the modern era. In his normal, waking state of consciousness Cayce was an unprepossessing common man of little education, born late in the 19th Century, and reared in rural Kentucky with a strong Christian faith among what we would call "fundamentalist Christians." As a result of a long chain of seemingly unrelated events he ultimately became what Jess Stearn called The Sleeping Prophet. Once in a self-induced hypnotic trance Cayce became a remarkable, and almost infallible clairvoyant. There are stenographic reports of 9,000 or more of his diagnoses, and any objective study confirms his remarkable accuracy in describing distant patients, their histories, their diseases, and how to cure them. Beyond that, this Bible-Belt Christian, in his clairvoyant state, and without prompting, began to talk about the past lives of the "entities" as part of the causes of current problems. If you haven't read about Cayce and his readings (which he later claimed came from the Akashic Records) you are in for a big treat. We suggest you follow the road map we present below. We recommend you start with the first two books we review. Beyond that, if you want to pursue in depth an interest in specific topics, such as Health, Atlantis, Jesus, etc. you can locate these books later on.

The Story of Edgar Cayce: There Is a River

Thomas Sugrue

This is the best book to start learning about Cayce. This book was written in 1942, about 4 years before Cayce died, by Sugrue, who was a college buddy of one of Cayce’s sons, and who lived for a few years with the Cayce family. It is a straightforward biography. Sugrue does a nice job of storytelling along with capturing the esoteric import of the Cayce data and phenomena. I have given away 20 or 30 copies of this book to friends over the years. It seems to me to present compelling and unassailable evidence of the existence of ESP or clairvoyance. I can never understand how people can read this book and still doubt the validity of more subtle planes of existence than most materialists will admit exist. Read it, and let us know what you think.

Many Mansions: The Edgar Cayce Story of Reincarnation

Gina Cerminara

Cerminara’s book is a must read for anyone interested in the subject of reincarnation. The author uses the Cayce materials to present compelling evidence for the acceptance of reincarnation as a fact of existence. The book is a joy to read and is a classic study of karma and reincarnation. I think everyone ought to read and enjoy this book. However, if you just want the author’s conclusions, here they are:

She states that, "In outline form this pattern seems to be as follows:"

  • God exists.
  • Every soul is a portion of God.
    • You are a soul; you inhabit a body.
  • Life is purposeful.
  • Life is continuous.
  • All human life operates under law.
    • Karma; reincarnation.
  • Love fulfills that law.
  • The will of man creates his destiny.
  • The mind of man has formative power.
  • The answer to all problems is within the Self.

In the assurance of the above postulates, man is enjoined as follows:

  • Realize first your relationship to the Creative Forces of the Universe, or God.
  • Formulate your ideals and purposes in life.
  • Strive to achieve those ideals.
  • Be active.
  • Be patient.
  • Be joyous.
  • Leave the results to God.
  • Do not seek to evade any problem.
  • Be a channel of good to other persons.

Edgar Cayce's Keys to Health: Simple Solutions for a Lifetime of Vitality

Eric Mein, M.D.

This is a book I recommend to everyone.

Mein does a superb job of tying together all of the teachings from thousands of Cayce’s readings, to give us a comprehensive overview in order to optimize our physical, mental, and spiritual health.

In this book we can learn how and why we get sick, in general, and what we can do to prevent illness. There are also studies of fourteen common diseases and their causes and treatments.

What makes this knowledge most useful is that now there is a company which provides access to virtually every device or substance recommended by Cayce. The website can be accessed at www.baar.com or you can call them at 800-269-2502.

I am thrilled to have read this book and discovered this website. I hope many of you will read the book and find some of the things useful in achieving optimum well-being.
