The Cliff Walk: A Job Lost and a Life Found
Don J. Snyder
A person sometimes needs to lose his false identity through crises in order to find their real self. The author experiences a devastating blow to his egoic self upon losing his teaching job at a University. It is a job that he loves, and the hurt of the loss is amplified by the dubious circumstances surrounding the loss.
Snyder’s battle to overcome his depression brought on by this loss is both harrowing and fascinating to observe. Having similar conditions upon reading this book made it, for me, more personal and intense… there were passages that made my heart literally beat uncontrollably. This autobiography is for any one who has experienced a deep loss, which in the end is really a rebirth to a new life.
