This is a really moving story. Ted Williams is in the process of dying. Dom DiMaggio and Johnny Pesky drive to Florida to visit him and to say goodbye. If you are a baseball fan you will love the stories of what baseball was like in the 40’s when Williams, Pesky, DiMaggio, and Bobby Doerr were teammates on the Boston Red Sox. There are great stories about the rivalries with the Yankees, and the 1946 World Series against the Cardinals. If you are a caring, sincere, and thoughtful human being you will be entranced with the values of friendship and camaraderie experienced by these four very unique men over a period of more than five decades. Quite simply this is a great book, not just a great sports book.
