The Wisdom of Crowds: Why the Many Are Smarter Than the Few and How Collective Wisdom Shapes Busines
James Surowiecki
James Surowiecki, author of The Wisdom of Crowds writes a popular business column in The New Yorker. He has written a book that will please many. Most of us tend to hold so called "experts" in very high esteem and eschew or denigrate the opinions of the masses. The author turns that viewpoint on its head and demonstrates numerous examples of how in many cases the crowds do a better job of analysis than do the experts.
This book was very insightful and easy and fun to read. The examples are very well chosen and the logic is impeccable. If one is interested in marketing this is a must read. Some of the issues dealt with, such as the place of honesty, integrity, and even fair-play, turn out to be much more interesting than one would think, especially in the context of capitalism.
This book is an excellent read and one which I highly recommend.
