Faithful: Two Diehard Boston Red Sox Fans Chronicle the Historic 2004 Season

Stewart O'Nan and Stephen King

I am a baseball nut, a native New Englander, and a lifelong Red Sox fan. Given my background it should come as no surprise that I loved every minute I spent reading Faithful, by Stewart O'Nan and Stephen King. After the heartbreaking 2003 baseball season, which ended with a terrible defeat in a come from behind victory in the seventh and deciding game of the American League Championship series authored by "The Evil Empire," a.k.a. The New York Yankees, Scribner, the publisher, commissioned baseball aficionados, well known authors, and rabid baseball fans Stewart O'Nan and Stephen King to chronicle, by diary, the complete 2004 Red Sox season.

The publisher and authors hit the jackpot when the Red Sox achieved the greatest comeback in sports history to beat the Yankees and then go on to reverse the curse and win the World Series.

If you read this book you will learn a lot about the Red Sox, baseball, New England, and the two authors and their families. It is flat out pure fun and joy to read this book. I couldn't wait to finish it, but I was sorry when I had finished it. That always tells me that I loved a book.
