Phillip F. Tomlinson, Jr., Ph.D. (Ph.D. in Physiology and molecular cell biology, TM Teacher, long time customer and avid reader).
Books that have made a profound impact on my life.
October 18, 2004.
Martin Heidegger’s Introduction to Metaphysics fired up my life-long quest for awakened insight, the roots of existence, and values, obligations, and responsibilities connected with living a meaningful life. Asked to read and review Introduction to Metaphysics to complete a sophomore undergraduate course in metaphysics in 1967, I spent a summer pondering every nuance and character. I was left with a consuming thirst to probe further. What Heidegger presents in abstract, Western intellectual thought, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi presents to me in a simple, lucid, accessible synthesis of Eastern and Western metaphysics accompanied by clear, direct experience. Of Maharishi’s books, The Bhagavad Gita has had the most profound impact on my life. Phil Tomlinson
